Welcome to the Network: Yogacharya Pushpa Ji

We're honored to welcome Yogacharya Pushpa Ji and Veda Yogshala to Yoga Founders Network.
Yogacharya Pushpa Ji founded Veda Yogshala in Rishikesh, India, in 2015 alongside Yogi Jay Ji. As a women-led Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, Veda Yogshala stands as a bridge between traditional yogic heritage and the diverse community of students who travel to Rishikesh seeking authentic practice and teacher training. What makes this school distinctive is not only its location in the yoga capital of the world, but the depth of lineage and lived experience that Pushpa Ji brings to her teaching.
A Journey That Began at Thirteen
Pushpa Ji's path into yoga started remarkably early. "My journey into yoga began when I was 13 years old, when I moved to Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh. Under the guidance of respected spiritual teachers, I began learning Hindu traditions, Vedantic teachings, meditation, mantras and yoga. Over time, yoga became much more than a practice for me—it became a way of life and a path of spiritual growth."
That foundation—years of study under teachers including Mahamandaleshwar Swami Ashangananda Ji Maharaj, Swami Narayan Swarupa Maharaj, and Swami Dashrathananda Ji Maharaj—shaped her understanding of Kundalini Kriya Yoga and meditation. It also informed her vision for what a yoga school could offer: not a quick certification, but a genuine immersion in the culture, philosophy, and practices that have sustained yoga for centuries.
Building a Space for Sincere Learning
When asked what made her take the leap into founding Veda Yogshala, Pushpa Ji's answer reflects both generosity and purpose. "After years of learning, practicing and teaching yoga, I felt a strong desire to share what I had received from my teachers with people from different parts of the world. This inspired me to establish Veda Yogshala in Rishikesh, with the aim of sharing traditional yoga, Indian culture and holistic wellbeing while creating a supportive space for sincere learning."
Today, Veda Yogshala offers residential 100-hour and 200-hour teacher training programs in Kundalini Yoga and Multi-Style Yoga, alongside daily drop-in classes, retreats, Sound Healing, Reiki Healing, and Yoga & Ayurveda experiences. The school welcomes students of all genders, cultures, and experience levels—and over the past thirteen years, Pushpa Ji has guided thousands of students from around the world.
The Work Behind the Welcome
Running a yoga school in service to tradition and transformation is not without its challenges. "What people often do not see is the dedication behind teaching and running a yoga school. Every student arrives with a different background, expectation and personal journey. Supporting each person with patience, maintaining the authenticity of traditional practices and creating a safe and welcoming environment requires continuous learning, discipline and responsibility."
That commitment shows up in the school's approach. Students leave with more than a certificate—they leave with something deeper. "I want people to leave with greater inner peace, awareness and confidence. My hope is that students experience yoga not simply as physical exercise, but as a deeper practice that helps bring balance to the body and mind. I also want them to carry a genuine connection with the wisdom, culture and spirit of India."
Advice Rooted in Practice
For anyone considering their own teaching path or yoga business, Pushpa Ji offers grounded wisdom: "Start with sincerity and patience. First develop your own practice and understanding, then share what you have genuinely experienced. Stay connected to the roots of yoga while remaining open to learning from every student. If your intention is sincere and your work is consistent, growth will come naturally over time."
Women's empowerment is woven into the fabric of Veda Yogshala's mission. Through her leadership, Pushpa Ji encourages women to develop confidence, independence, inner strength, and the capacity to teach—all while staying connected to the traditional wisdom that grounds the practice.
