Sri Yoga Ashram

Sri Yoga Ashram is a small, family-run yoga school and ashram in Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh, in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, India. The ashram is close to the river Ganga, and a small mountain stream runs beside it. It is a Yoga Alliance USA Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 and RYS 500).

The school runs 100, 200, 300 and 500 hour yoga teacher training courses. Its Yoga Alliance registered 200 hour training is taught in four specialised streams: Ashtanga, Kundalini, Yin and Meditation. Alongside the teacher trainings there is Holistic Yoga & Ayurveda Therapist Training, an astrology and yoga teacher training, short Yin, Kundalini and Ayurveda courses, yoga nidra, a beginners' course and yoga retreats. After a 200, 300 or 500 hour course, graduates receive the school's certificate and can apply to Yoga Alliance to register as RYT 200 or RYT 500.

Training follows a full residential day. It starts with Hatha yoga at 6:30 am and continues with pranayama and cleansing practices, karma yoga, anatomy and philosophy. The afternoon is set aside for rest, self-practice and the library, and the day ends with meditation and an evening Kundalini or Ashtanga class. Groups are small, around 10 to 12 students, so teachers know every student by name.

Students stay on site in clean single or double-sharing private rooms with attached bathrooms and hot and cold water, right next to the yoga hall and dining area. Meals are pure vegetarian and served in the ashram. The school's guiding belief is that love and affection inspire transformation far more effectively than strict instruction alone, and it treats that supportive teacher-student bond as the heart of every course.

Prospective students are invited to speak with a teacher before paying a deposit, so that they get an honest recommendation about which course suits their practice.
